question

Just a quick question for any of you that might know. I'll be flying a solo cross country out to KMIE within the next week or so. I don't have a lot of tower experience. Don't believe I'll have any problems, I just want to do some listening ahead of time. I've been surfing around on liveatc.net . There are a lot of stations streaming there. Anyone else use this site? Any suggestions on a good airport with moderate traffic to listen to? (class D that is)

still flyin

It's been a few weeks since I've posted anything. I guess its a combination of my recent laziness :) and the fact that I didn't fly for a couple weeks. The weather was uncooperative for a while, which wasn't all bad. My wallet needed a breather as well!

Since my last post I've done a little more local solo time, my first night cross country, and my first solo cross country. The night cross country was great. I enjoy flying a lot at night. It's very relaxing, cool, smooth, and the view is awesome. We went over to CYO and back... which by the way is where I soloed to a few days later. I was a little nervous on my first cross country, but only for a while. It went very well and I'm looking forward to my next one. The only problem I had was on the approach to CYO. It's out in the middle of nowhere. If you've been there, you know what I'm talking about. There aren't a lot of good landmarks close to it so I almost missed it! I barely made it down to pattern altitude before entering the downwind. Because of my late decent I had a little extra speed on my base turn. The turn to base and then final didn't really put me in a spot where I felt comfortable, so I radioed and did a go around. Second time was much better and the landing was uneventful.

Earlier today we flew out to Muncie, IN (MIE). Thats about 66 nm or so. Now I've been to a towered airport a whole two times! I believe this will be the destination for my next solo cross country. Need to make more trips over that way... or at least back to Bolton in Columbus. I need tower time!

I'm up to 27 hours how. It's going by a lot faster than I thought. I'm trying to pace myself... for monetary reasons and just to not burn/stress myself out. I can't believe it's October already. Hopefully I'll be able to pass the check ride before the end of the year.
