it's miller time!

As of July 23 2007, I've officially logged my first time as pilot in command! The weather was perfect, no wind, and a cool evening. My first solo, consisting of 3 full stop landings, went off without a hitch. The first one made me a little nervous, and the touch down was a bit hard, but after that things went great. There's so much going on that you're trying to concentrate on, the fact that you're alone doesn't really sink in right away.

We didn't go up till about 8pm so the sun was setting. The runway lights were on and thats the first time I've actually flown at this time of day. It was a neat effect to do this with the lights on... even though it wasn't really dark. :)

We did one landing with both of us in the plane, then my instructor hopped out and I headed off down the taxi way. I followed that up with 3 full stops. (actually just taxi around and take off again) They don't have the students do touch and goes for their solo. Not sure if thats a universal thing or just here.

Tomorrow evening I've got some time scheduled to do my second solo. Not sure if the weather is going to cooperate though. For now I need to go and try to get some sleep... ;)
