Where am I now...

I'm a few weeks into ground school at my local airport (KMGY). Haven't actually started flying yet. That should come in the next 2-3 weeks.

So far the ground school has been very good. The gentleman instructing the class was in the military and has a multitude of certificates and ratings. We are using a kit and books from Jeppensen. The instructor has his own syllabus, but it follows the chapters in the main text book more or less. I know there are self-study kits with cd's and dvd's and such, but I think learning this stuff in a classroom environment gives you access to personal experiences that you can't get otherwise.

There's been a lot of information thrown at us so far. Nothing too complicated, but just lots of it. I'm anxious to see some sample FAA tests to get a feel for the level of detail much of this needs to be learned.

I flew into KMGY once while I was learning to fly. I was based out of Blue Ash just outside of Cincinnati. A great little airport if you are ever looking for a short flight, once you get into your training.

Good luck!
